about the role
This role is a foundational one within our organization to lead our Backend Engineering team, with lots of opportunity for growth. We are looking for a full-time employee with a start date of ASAP. We are fully remote and open to all US locations. We are building for the future!
Non-Technical Requirements
- 1-2 years experience leading a team of 2 or more engineers
- Experience leading code reviews and providing constructive feedback
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Team-first mentality, works well with others
- Fluent written and verbal English (native speaker level)
- Passion for sports and competition
- Not afraid to jump in when you see something you can add value to
- Experience leading remote pair programming sessions
Technical Requirements
- 4+ years of experience with Node.js tech stacks and scaling Node services in production
- Experience with GraphQL (Hasura skills is a plus)
- Experience with AWS tech stack (Lambda/Serverless is a plus)
- Production PostgresSQL experience
- Experience writing unit and integration tests with a focus on adding tests that provide value over writing tests for the sake of coverage
Our ideal candidate:
- Has experience working in a fast-paced early-stage start-up environment or is incredibly enthusiastic about learning quickly in a new space.
- Is able to synthesize information quickly, distill the most relevant insights, and communicate those insights to relevant stakeholders.
- Is familiar with using SQL or similar tools to conduct data analysis.
- Is proactive, bold, and resourceful ("If not me, then who?").
- Is not afraid to work 10-12 hour days, if necessary.
- Is curious about the social gaming space.
